If you love f-bombs, then this book caters to you
C. Steven Manley prose is well crafted and the story itself is thrilling as it is gruesome. There are two MCs Erin and Israel. with Israel the more level-headed of the two while Erin is prone into unloosing cluster f-bombs at the slightest provocation or slight. The dynamic between the two makes of an odd partnership not unlike that of the Odd Couple. Erin's backstory is absolutely a horrid tale of familial abuse emotionally, sexually and physically so I gave her character a lot of leeway what with her bruskness and foul-mouth but, still, it eventually chaffed on my listening pleasure whenever she went off. Israel, on the other hand, comes close to what would be called a gentle giant; perhaps too much at times.
The story itself was outlined well and plays out evenly as the author moves the story forward.
James Anderson Foster performed admirably as a narrator.

Starts slow, gets good, ends interesting AF
Started slow, got really good, ended interesting AF. World building took the author a bit to start rolling. feels like an early Brandon Sanderson.. if he wrote his super hero series first instead of Elantris.
Hopefully that made sense. lol

RESEARCH DOES WONDERS
The author really needs to stick to writing what he knows or at least do some basic Google research about things he knows nothing about. Like when the "Glock" having enough recoil, when fired by a grown man with moderate strength, to smack him in the head; shotgun smelling like "cordite" when cordite has been replaced by more modern propellants and was mainly used by the British, not the US. Also, he needs to research military and para military tactics when it comes to escorting and protecting unarmed civilians. The lack of research makes it sound like the book was written by a know-it-all neckbeard in his mom's basement. The plot has promise, but the execution just lacks...

A Welcome Surprise!
Loved it! My first book by this author and I'm checking out others! Always great to find a talented new writer.
Believable and real characters that have conversations that aren't predictable or trite. A story that kept me coming back with a anticipation. A fresh and well thought out view on what's often hard to do; a modern Cthulhu tale that is the perfect balance of supernatural and realism. The protagonists and antagonists both have realistic motivations, allowing the reader to lose themselves in the story.

Author needs to learn the concept of show don’t tell
The story has promise but the author has a terrible habit of telling you everything rather than showing which make the story a bit jarring to get through. On top of that he tends to repeat the same words of an action that a character had thought about taking. Theres just many issues in the writing to really be immersive for me. 2hrs in, I finally had enough.

If stormlight is wagyu beef, this is a double double animal style after a long day
Solid and satisfying.
Is this a top tier fantasy novel? Probably not. But it is written very well. The right amount of pace, character depth, and fantastical elements.
This series is interesting and has lots of potential and I’m looking forward to what the author does with the next book.

A bloody damn good Urban fantasy
This good was very well done, the characters are cool and interesting, the plot is well done as well. I also like the world building and I hope it is expanded on further in the next book!

Loved it
This was a great story, as most first books of a series, it started with a lot of info, but it all fell into place, I want more. Now for the bad part, the rest of the series isn't on audible, so I will have to manually read it, why?

WOW
I'm completely blown away by the quality of this story the performance and the recording overall. as far as The story goes it was amazing if you're a fan of Joe ledger or books about things that go bump in the night, or mysterious groups who fight against the dark evils of the world. this is the book for you is a perfect encapsulation of the genre and we'll stand in the annals of classic action horror. not quite all the way horror but all amazing. this is a must-read

Great start to s series
This book really has me hooked on the mythology and the bloodlines of the characters. I'm really curious to see how the author interprets certain bloodlines.

Pleasantly suprised
Since this was free I thought it would be okay but didn’t have that many expectations. I just played it in the background or intended to but ended up hooked. The plot itself is the exact type of genre I like whilst being unique to their own still in different ways. The characters reactions and feelings are very relatable and the story paints a vivid picture of it all without being too wordy or overly descriptive.
I am defiantly happy to have found this.

Ensure a little, then it will better.
It starts not so good, but take it slowly…. It will get better later. Overall quite like inspired by Lovecraft stories.
