The Cinnamon Bear is arguably the best holiday series ever developed for radio. First heard in1937, this wonderful Christmas fantasy adventure was created and written by Glanville Heisch (with the help of his wife, Elisabeth) for children of all ages. It all starts with twins Judy and Jimmy Barton just before Christmas. Someone - or something - has taken the "Silver Star" from the top of their Christmas tree. The very Irish teddy bear, Paddy O'Cinnamon, comes to their rescue and tells them that the Crazy Quilt Dragon has taken the star to Maybeland.

“It would sweeten a man’s temper at any time to read it,” wrote essayist Charles Lamb some years after this novel was first published in 1653. Of course, The Compleat Angler is much more than just a 17th century “how-to” guide to catching and cooking fish.

Over 100 years ago, Reverend Charles Sheldon stepped up to the pulpit to deliver a sermon to his little flock of Congregationalists. Little did he know that his humble parable would evolve into a novel that would be published in 45 languages and affect the lives of at least 15 million people. These are the words of General William T. Sherman, with whom "scorched earth policy" will forever be linked. In his memoirs, the Union general describes the waning days of the American Civil War and his famous march through Georgia, culminating in the capture and burning of Atlanta. With frank, forceful words, the listener is brought to the front lines as Sherman wipes out 20,000 Confederate soldiers and sacks Atlanta - and in the process boosts Abraham Lincoln's re-election campaign.
