A transitional tale, situated between Lovecrafts earlier work and the later Cthulhu Mythos, The Horror At Red Hook depicts the strange and forbidding account of an Irish Detective, detirmined to unearth the truth of the mysterious spiritualist; Robert Suydam of Red Hook, and his connection with...

I used to think Lovecraft was impossible to narrate well. My early attempts at his work felt stiff and bogged down by archaic prose, so I almost gave up on them entirely. But The Haunter of the Dark was different. Instead of fighting the original text, I sat down and adapted it—modernizing the...

Possibly the most widely known tale written by gothic horror writer H.P Lovecraft; the Call of Cthulhu is a short story published in 1928 about a young man who inherits a strange body of work from his deceased Uncle, who had been researching a dark and unknown cult, and mysterious happenings of...

When a scientific expedition to the Antarctic goes horribly and lethally wrong, it falls to Dr Dyer to try and swear others off from following in his expeditions footsteps, to try and prevent them from journeying to those terrifying mountains of madness, and the horror that lies beyond...

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. Not every Lovecraft tale comes from the shadows. Writing as a genteel old gentleman recalling his youth in eighteenth-century London, Lovecraft steps entirely out of the cosmic and into the drawing room — offering a warm, witty portrait of Dr. Samuel...

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. Beneath a shabby London waxworks lies a private gallery no visitor is meant to see — a hall of monstrous figures too vile to be mere craftsmanship. When a skeptical writer accepts a challenge to spend the night among them, he learns that the museum's...

The story follows Walter Gilman, who takes a room in the Witch House, an accursed house in Akham, Lovecraft's fictional New England town. The house once harbored Keziah Mason, a witch who disappeared mysteriously from a Salem jail in 1692. Gilman discovers that over the centuries most of its occupants have died prematurely. In his dreams while at the house, Gilman travels to the city of Elder Things and communes with the evil witch and her henchmen.

Written in the summer of 1926, it was first published in Weird Tales, February 1928. It is the only story written by Lovecraft in which the extra terrestrial entity Cthulhu himself makes a major appearance. It is written in a documentary style, with three independent narratives linked together by the device of a narrator discovering notes left by a deceased relative. The narrator pieces together the whole truth and disturbing significance of the information he possesses

The dark and twisted story of Wilbur Whateley and the strange events surrounding his birth and precocious development. Wilbur matures at an abnormal rate, reaching manhood within a decade—all the while becoming indoctrinated into dark rituals and witchcraft by his grandfather.

The story is told by Albert N. Wilmarth, an instructor of literature at Miskatonic University in Arkham. When local newspapers report strange things seen floating in rivers during a historic Vermont flood, Wilmarth becomes embroiled in a controversy about the reality and significance of the sightings, though he sides with the skeptics. Wilmarth uncovers old legends about monsters living in the uninhabited hills who abduct people who venture or settle too close to their territory.

In the Vault was based on a suggestion made in August 1925 by Charles W. Smith, editor of the amateur journal Tryout, which Lovecraft recorded in a letter: 'an undertaker imprisoned in a village vault where he was removing winter coffins for spring burial, and his escape by enlarging a transom reached by the piling up of the coffins'.

Before throwing himself from the window of his attic, the untitled protagonist writes some notes related to his mental state. Then, he begins to recall an old story that happened in the years of the First World War: suddenly, he finds himself a prisoner of a German ship in the Pacific Ocean. After only five days, the protagonist manages to escape with a raft. Wandering for days, adrift in the sea, one afternoon he finds himself stranded on a disquieting and apparently deserted island and, from there, things only get stranger.

The story is narrated by the scion of the Delapore family, who has moved from Massachusetts to his ancestral estate in England, known as Exham Priory. On several occasions, the protagonist and his cats hear the sounds of rats scurrying behind the walls. Upon investigating further, he finds that his family maintained an underground city for centuries and that the inhabitants of the city fed on human flesh, even going so far as to raise generations of human cattle, who eventually began to de-evolve due to their sub-human living conditions.

The story is told from the first person perspective of an unnamed narrator and details his experiences with a scientist named Crawford Tillinghast. Tillinghast creates an electronic device that emits a resonance wave, which stimulates an affected person’s pineal gland, thereby allowing them to perceive planes of existence outside the scope of accepted reality.

An unnamed narrator pieces together the story of an area known by the locals as the "blasted heath" in the wild hills west of the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts. The narrator discovers that many years ago a meteorite crashed there, poisoning every living being nearby; vegetation grows large but foul tasting, animals are driven mad and deformed into grotesque shapes, and the people go insane or die one by one.
