When Fortune returns from break and realizes the body in her scene is a real one and not the prop, she knows trouble is coming.

Bei ihren Missionen als CIA-Attentäterin hat Fortune Redding bereits jede Menge Hindernisse erfolgreich bewältigt. Aber seit sie in Sinful, Louisiana, untergetaucht ist, muss sie sich ständig neuen Herausforderungen stellen. Als ein Hurrikan durch die winzige Bayou-Stadt stürmt, regnet es plötzlich Falschgeld. Wie sich herausstellt, stehen die Blüten in direkter Verbindung zu Ahmad – ausgerechnet dem Waffenhändler, der ein Kopfgeld auf Fortune ausgesetzt hat!

Nach Celia Arceneaux‘ überraschender Wahl zur Bürgermeisterin von Sinful, Louisiana, ist Fortune Redding klar, dass die Schwierigkeiten nun vorprogrammiert sind. Immerhin hat Celia ein unvergleichliches Talent, aus jeder Situation das Schlimmste zu machen. Besonders, wenn sie damit ihre Rachepläne gegen ihre Erzfeindinnen Ida Belle und Gertie verwirklichen kann. Und die setzt Celia auch gleich in die Tat um: Sie feuert den Sheriff und stellt ihren Cousin Nelson als Polizeichef ein, der Fortune und ihren Freundinnen auf Schritt und Tritt Ärger macht.

Zum Glück stehen ihr die munteren Seniorinnen Ida Belle und Gertie mit Rat und manch unüberlegter Tat zur Seite.

Politik kann mörderisch sein. Obwohl sich die CIA-Agentin Fortune Redding erst seit Kurzem im Hinterland von Louisiana versteckt, war sie bereits in zwei Mordfälle verwickelt. Höchste Zeit für Fortune, es ein wenig ruhiger angehen zu lassen, denn ihre wahre Identität darf keinesfalls bekannt werden. Als jedoch der Bürgermeisterkandidat Ted Williams ermordet wird, gerät ihre Freundin Ida Belle unter Verdacht. Das kann Fortune natürlich nicht zulassen und beginnt zu ermitteln, sehr zum Ärger des attraktiven Deputys Carter LeBlanc.

Schönheit geht unter die Haut. Der Tod trifft ins Mark. Aufgrund ihrer Undercover-Identität als ehemalige Schönheitskönigin wird die CIA-Agentin Fortune Redding verpflichtet, zusammen mit dem Möchtegern-Hollywoodstar Pansy Arceneaux einen Schönheitswettbewerb in Sinful, Louisiana, zu leiten. Es dauert jedoch nicht lange, bis zwischen den beiden die Fetzen fliegen. Als Pansy tot aufgefunden wird, ist Fortune die Hauptverdächtige. Ganz klar, dass sie den wahren Täter finden muss, ehe ihre Tarnung auffliegt.

Weitab vom Schuss erlebt die CIA-Agentin Fortune Redding ihre bisher schwierigste Mission: Weil ein Waffenhändler ein Kopfgeld auf sie ausgesetzt hat, muss sie kurzfristig in dem Provinzkaff Sinful in Louisiana untertauchen. Ihr Chef will sie ausgerechnet als ehemalige Schönheitskönigin und Bibliothekarin tarnen, obwohl sie weder mit Schminke noch mit Büchern etwas am Hut hat. Womit Fortune nicht rechnet: dass eine Leiche auftaucht, noch ehe sie ihren Koffer ausgepackt hat. Und dann fängt auch noch der viel zu attraktive Deputy Sheriff der Stadt an, unbequeme Fragen zu stellen.

In Sinful geht ein Betrüger um, der alleinstehende Frauen mit einer gefälschten Social-Media-Identität um ihr Geld bringt. Da er ziemlich gut über seine Opfer Bescheid zu wissen scheint, glauben Fortune, Ida Belle und Gertie, dass der Liebesschwindler entweder in Sinful lebt oder auf andere Weise eng mit der Stadt verbunden ist. Doch aus Betrug wird Mord, als eine Frau tot aufgefunden wird. Hat sie etwa die wahre Identität des Hochstaplers herausgefunden? Auch wenn Deputy Carter LeBlanc mit vollem Einsatz an diesem Fall arbeitet – um einen Frauenmörder zu entlarven, braucht es manchmal eine Frau. Oder auch drei...
