After a discussion with the Abbot and his Vicar, Watson begins to understand the importance of the veneration of Virgin Mary within the Catholic church. While Holmes's interests wander towards the Abbey's rich collection of relics.

Holmes and Watson discover a secret laboratory. Soon they realize that not only chemical, but also questionable medical experiments have been conducted on the premises.

Holmes and Watson are able to solve the case, but have to answer to the catholic Archbishop. And then, in the end, there is one last problem that requires their attention.
