Over a century after World War 3 a new menace to humankind has arisen. Reptilians out to rule the planet and make it their own. They already control much of Asia and now they are focusing on North America. Which might explain why the Family has lost contact with the Free State of California. Warriors are sent to investigate. The skills of an ancient people wreaked havoc at the end of time. The Family hears about a community in Northeastern Iowa called Sparta. Sparta was formed after the war by a group of professors and a remnant of a national guard unit. A history professor suggested that they emulate the Spartans since the community would need to be strong to survive and the Spartans were…

The story takes us back in time to when Blade, Hickok and Geronimo were just teenagers. A young 16-year-old Blade and his friends are off on a little adventure. The journals of their founder Kurt Carpenter mention that a recluse millionaire built a castle fifteen miles from the Home. The young boys are on an adventure to explore and find out if the castle still exists. They do indeed find that the castle is still standing and inhabited.

Good cops have no use for coincidence. When a driver slams his pickup truck—twice—into a tandem bike being ridden by Carlos Guzman and his fiancée, Tasha, in Briones, California, it's more than a simple hit-and-run; the driver clearly intended to harm them. Undersheriff Estelle Reyes-Guzman gets the call with the news of her son's accident and wastes no time racing to his side. She is greeted by Police Captain Eddie Mitchell, formerly of Posadas County, who allows Estelle to "consult" on the investigation—but only to a point.

The Home gets a distress call from New Orleans. A group of resistance fighters is asking for help. Naturally the Home will send out Blade and the Warriors to investigate. This time Blade chooses the Beta Triad made up of the hybrids Lynx, Ferret and Gremlin.

Sent by the Federation into the Arctic Circle to reactivate the Alaskan pipeline for an energy-starved post-World War III world, Blade and his team encounter a madman bent on destruction of what is left of the planet.
