Mexico won its freedom from Spain, and now the American settlers in Texas want their independence from the government of Mexico. Revolution is in the air, and the Lewis family is caught up in the struggle which will lead to the doomed battle of the Alamo.

The story of Michael and Andrew Lewis continues. Five years after the death of their father Mordecai at the hands of Spanish soldiers in Texas, Michael seeks revenge. He, in turn, is being hunted by the Blackwood family from Tennessee, who have declared a feud with the Lewises.

The first meeting of the Free Cities to elect a Re-constitutional Congress has ended in a nuclear firestorm with the Soviets wiping out nearly all the members. The Doomsday Warrior, Ted Rockson, has barely escaped with the newly elected president. However, the unthinkable has now happened - Rockson, the man on every "Wanted" poster throughout the world, is captured by Soviet forces and taken to Moscow.

Like most families, the Jensens gather together to celebrate the holidays. This year, since half the clan is scattered across the American West, they've decided to split the difference and meet up in Tucson. Matt and Luke will be there, for sure, and maybe Ace and Chance, too. That leaves Sally, Preacher, and Smoke Jensen, who've reserved three seats on a westbound stage to make sure they don't miss out on the festivities. What could possibly go wrong?
