Buff: A Collie and Other Dog-Stories is one of many popular books written by Albert Payson Terhune that have delighted dog lovers for decades. Terhune loved dogs, and he bred and raised collies at his Sunnybank Kennels. This is a novel by Will James, an artist and writer of the American West in the early 1900’s. The story tells of the life of Smoky, a horse born in the wild and captured by a cowboy named Clint who trained him to be an outstanding cow horse.
