Wewe Gombel is a figure from Indonesian folklore, often described as a mysterious spirit who appears at night. She is usually imagined as a tall woman with long, messy hair and a shadowy face that is hard to see clearly. In many stories, Wewe Gombel is said to take children who wander outside too late or do not listen to their parents. However, she is not always portrayed as evil. Some legends say that she does not harm the children, but instead keeps and protects them until they are ready to return home. Because of this, Wewe Gombel is often seen as both a frightening and protective figure—used in stories to remind children to stay safe and listen to their parents.
