  • 501: Behind the Rank: When Your Confidence Depends on the Scoreboard with Missy Hydes
    Sep 10 2026

Missy Hydes is a NVP with Arbonne that has been in this profession for 22 years. In 2019, something happened she has never been able to explain. For three months, her business multiplied in a way that didn't make any sense. She wasn't pushing. She wasn't up until 2 a.m. on the closing night turning over every rock. She was running a 6 a.m. bible study, and telling her team that she loved them. Every day.

Here's what she couldn't explain. The people on her team started moving without her having to carry them. Other leaders started asking her what she was doing and she didn't even know what to tell them. Because the honest answer wasn't a system or a strategy. She couldn't explain it.

Twelve days after her big promotion, she wrote something in her journal: 'I can tell fear is trying to creep in, because I'm already afraid we're gonna lose everything we've just built.'

Over the next three years, she lost the title and watched most of her leaders quietly lay their businesses down. But she never left. Even though there were plenty of moments when she wanted to. Somewhere along the way she stopped telling her team she loved them. Stopped talking about culture. Started to focus on the rank, the numbers, and the pressures of leadership.

She even reached a point where she completely stopped posting on social media altogether. What she didn't realize was all the weight of carrying the rank and success caused her to emotionally disconnect from the business she once loved.

This conversation with Missy is about the season she could never explain, what happened when the scoreboard became the source of her confidence, and what she's beginning to understand about both of those things right now.

It's also about what HASN'T changed yet. Her numbers aren't up. But she said something that might matter even more: 'I don't feel successful. But I finally feel free.'

  • 500: Behind the Rank: Annie Steicke on the Hidden Cost of Always Being the Strong One.
    Aug 23 2026

Annie Steicke is a RVP with Arbonne. For 13 years she believed great leaders stayed strong no matter what. They didn't let their team see them struggle. They stayed positive, held everything together, and carried the weight silently.

From the outside, her business looked successful.

    Inside, leadership was getting heavier.

In this episode of Behind the Rank, Annie shares what happened when she realized she had spent years confusing perfomrance with leadership, why pretending everything was okay slowly disconnected her from her self and the people she loved most, and how one simple act of telling the truth changed everything.

    Together, we explore:

    • Why so many good leaders mistake emotional disconnection for strength
    • The hidden cost of always feelilng like you have to hold it together for everyone else
    • What happened when Annie shared a post she'd spent years believing she could never write
    • What LOVE-LED Leadership looks like when you stop performing and start leading form who you really are

If you've ever felt like being a strong leader meant hiding what you were carrying, I think this conversation will help you see leadership, and yourself, in a completely different way.

Wondering why your business only works when YOU'RE working?

  • 499: Behind The Rank: Tanya Sheldon on Joining to Become Someone, Then Losing Her
    Jun 19 2026

For many leaders, the fear of losing what they've built is more exhausting than building it ever was. In this episode I've got another Behind the Rank story for you. I'm joined by Tanya Sheldon, an elite leader with LifeVantage, to explore what happens when you spend a decade climbing toward freedom, only to find yourself white-knuckling everything you've earned.

Tanya joined network marketing to become someone. And for years, that calling was enough to carry her forward. But after hitting one of the top ranks in her company, something quietly shifted. The becoming got pushed aside, and the doing took over. What followed was 10 years of playing not to lose: carrying her team, performing her leadership, and never letting anyone see the cracks, until she got on a stage and told the truth for the first time.

What makes Tanya's story so powerful is what happened next. Not just in the moment of that breakthrough, but in what became possible once she finally had language for what she'd been carrying, and the courage to let her calling lead again. This is a story about the cost of the performer mask, the loneliness of fear-led leadership, and what it feels like to finally lead with wings.

    Listen to Learn:

4:38 - What it felt like for Tanya to finally hit elite rank, and why reaching the thing she'd worked for immediately filled her with fear instead of freedom

6:33 - The ways in which the business shifted for her after the first year of hitting elite

10:41 - Why Tanya never would have said she was carrying it all, plus what was eventually revealed about the invisible weight she'd been holding for her team

16:02 - The stage moment that changed everything and how sharing her truth made an entire room of leaders feel seen for the first time

27:01 - How Tanya discovered she was wearing the "Performer Mask" for many years, and the moment she realized her authenticity had quiet limits

33:24 - What it felt like to walk onto that stage a second time, now with language and calling leading the way

38:06 - The end-of-month moment Tanya deleted the recording she'd just sent and led her friend with her own voice instead

48:33 - Why she had seriously considered leaving network marketing to coach and what shifted when she realized she didn't have to choose between her calling and her business
