I've been looking forward to having Austin on for a while and our chat tonight did not disappoint! I picked Austin's brain on his experience fishing the Head2Head Walleye tournaments over the last couple of years in Wisconsin, which then leads us into talking about and reliving our time in Door County for the annual HAWGUST bite this year. Today we sit down with Josh Pladies, a buddy of mine and owner of Clutch Swimbait Co. Josh started Clutch to fill an internal need to always be tweaking and tinkering with baits, and has grown into an absolute passion. Josh focuses on bait design from an engineering perspective in lieu of an artistic standpoint allow for his baits to be designed around performance and fish catching ability. Too many swimbait companies anymore are trying to make a bait that will simply look cool on a pegboard. Josh designs baits to be fish catchers first and foremost, and will not cut corners or take the easy way out when it comes to bait design. Performance is everything, and it shows in the products they build.
