Above Edinburgh's east end rises a hill of monuments, unfinished temples, buried radicals, and the best winter light in Scotland. Climb Calton Hill with us from the three o'clock gloom to the blue hour — past the time ball, the observatory keepers, the burial ground poets, the playback of Hogmanay fires — and come back down with twenty-nine small stories in your pocket.
