A proposito di questo titolo
When doing the right thing costs you and the outcome remains uncertain, what helps you keep going? You may have stood up for someone, cared for a loved one, or worked for change without knowing whether your efforts made a difference. This Evensong sermon from Christ Church North Adelaide explores the hope offered in the letter to the Hebrews. Some of its faithful witnesses experienced deliverance; others suffered and died. Both are commended for their faith. Their hope reached beyond what they could accomplish or see in their lifetimes. At the centre of that hope is Jesus’ resurrection. The sermon explores the Christian expectation of transformed bodily life and renewed creation, and asks how that future shapes our concern for people today. If bodies and creation matter to God, then practical care, justice and relationships belong at the heart of following Jesus. For those who are weary, grieving or conscious of past failures, the invitation begins with grace: receive forgiveness, ask for help and take another step. Faithfulness does not require us to control the outcome. Whether you are exploring Christianity or have followed Jesus for years, consider what may be holding you back. Bring that honestly to God, remember someone whose faith has helped you, and look for one practical opportunity to care for another person or share why Jesus gives you hope.
