Wherein we talk about the evolution of Jesus from a brown-skinned, West Asian member of a colonized people to a lily-white saviour of a “persecuted” middle and upper class of Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich and (for the moment) Democratic North America (weird, right?!). We discuss the origins of “White People” as a racial concept and how whiteness has co-opted what was meant to be universal salvation.
