Any holiday that revolves around gratitude has my attention and love is a favorite topic of mine so for this bonus episode I just want to briefly share the three factors that likely played into the creation of Valentine’s Day. Plus, this bonus episode feels like a nice filling to the sandwich of my love episodes right now, with the second part of “The Meanings of Love” coming out at the end of the month.

Learning the history of something we feel programmed to celebrate helps me appreciate it more while also feeling more empowered to celebrate it in the way I want to and not the way I’m told to. Personally, I deeply respect the choices of St. Valentine and I’m excited about the upcoming Spring season but can leave the rest.

For example, I didn’t realize St. Valentine was the patron saint of more than love before doing research on this episode!

Since February is a month of purification and love and with all that’s going on in the world, I wanted to begin season two with a focus on the different Greek and Latin words for love. I have found it easier to understand love when I can break them down into different types and apparently, psychology is doing this more and more as well.

There are eight main forms of love that I’m going to focus on in the first two episodes of this season. What each one is when it’s healthy and what the unhealthy version looks like.

I hope you can appreciate why understanding how love operates for each of us is an important topic, especially right now. I’d love to hear any questions, comments, examples from your own life, or future topic ideas.
