Episode Summary
A dentist may be intelligent and compassionate, but that does not make the dentist the right person to repair a transmission. In the same way, good intentions do not guarantee that we have assigned a problem to the right institution. This episode examines what happens when families transfer discipleship to the church, church members transfer ministry to a few leaders, or families and churches leave needs unattended until government becomes the default provider. It also warns against the opposite mistake of using private responsibility to excuse government from justice and protection. The goal is not an inflexible formula, but better biblical questions: Who is closest to the need? Who carries the clearest responsibility? What kind of help will relieve suffering while strengthening dignity, stability, relationships, and responsibility?
