When I launched this podcast, I thought I was creating a place to share the expertise and experiences of others. What I didn't expect was how much I would learn simply by listening.
Over my first eight conversations with parents, educators, advocates, and adults with ADHD, certain themes kept appearing again and again. Some reinforced what I thought I knew from years of working in special education and raising my own uniquely wired children. Others challenged assumptions I didn't even realize I was carrying.
In this episode, I share the eight biggest lessons I've taken away so far, including:
• Why different doesn't mean broken
• The hidden cost of masking
• The importance of understanding before intervention
• Why executive functioning is about more than motivation
• The role of connection in supporting growth
• How independence is built through support, not the removal of it
• Why parents need support too
• What gives me hope for the future of neurodivergent children and families
Whether you're a parent, educator, professional, or neurodivergent adult, I hope these lessons remind you that thriving doesn't come from becoming someone else. It comes from understanding yourself and building a life that works with your unique wiring.
