The Murders Of The West Mesa Bone Collector And The Chilling Evidence
    Sep 28 2026
This episode recounts the unsolved West Mesa murders, a chilling case involving the discovery of eleven female victims buried in the New Mexico desert. A dog walker first stumbled upon the remains in 2009, sparking an investigation into disappearances that occurred years prior. Most of the victims were Hispanic women with ties to sex work, a factor that experts suggest may have contributed to the lack of public urgency and police progress. While Albuquerque detectives identified potential suspects like Joseph Blea and Lorenzo Montoya, insufficient evidence has prevented a formal conviction. Consequently, the identity of the "Bone Collector" remains a mystery, leaving a significant reward unclaimed and the families without legal closure.

  • Unmasking the West Mesa Bone Collector

Unmasking the West Mesa Bone Collector
    Sep 22 2026
In 2009, a dog walker discovered a mass grave on Albuquerque's West Mesa, sparking the largest homicide investigation in the city’s history. The site contained the remains of eleven women and an unborn child, most of whom were vulnerable individuals who vanished between 2001 and 2005. Although authorities identified Joseph Blea and Lorenzo Montoya as primary suspects, neither man was ever charged with these specific killings. Investigative efforts have been hampered by insufficient forensic evidence and state laws that restrict the use of DNA from deceased suspects. Today, the "West Mesa Bone Collector" remains unidentified, leaving the families of the victims without legal closure. Eight additional women with similar backgrounds are still missing, leading to fears that more victims may eventually be found.
