  • Sunny Sydney Morning and Travel Updates
    Jul 21 2026
Wake Up Sydney with Johnny Rocket kicks off Wednesday, 22 July 2026, with a clear look at the city’s weather, roads, and rail network. Sydney is waking to a bright winter day, with mostly sunny skies across the city. The CBD starts at 9.2°C and is heading for a pleasant top of 21°C, while Parramatta begins cooler at 7.4°C before reaching 20°C. Over in Bondi, it’s a milder start at 11.4°C, also climbing to around 20°C. On the roads, commuters are urged to allow extra time in a few spots. Delays are affecting the Princes Highway southbound at Farnell Avenue in Loftus after a two-car crash, with one lane impacted. There’s also a car breakdown on the M4 westbound past Cumberland Highway at Greystanes, plus lingering congestion near Rozelle following an earlier bus breakdown on the Western Distributor approaching the Anzac Bridge. For public transport users, Sydney Trains and Metro are running normally, with no major disruptions reported. Looking ahead to the weekend, buses will replace trains between Olympic Park and Lidcombe on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July, running approximately every 30 minutes. Tune in to Wake Up Sydney for your essential morning update on Sydney weather, traffic, and trains.

  • Sunny Morning and Train Delays
    Jul 20 2026
Wake Up Sydney with Johnny Rocket returns for Tuesday, 21 July 2026, with your quick morning briefing on Sydney weather, traffic and trains. It’s a crisp, mostly sunny winter day across the Harbour City. The Sydney CBD starts at 8.6°C and heads for a pleasant 20°C, Parramatta begins at a chilly 6.1°C with a top of 20°C, and Bondi sits at 10.8°C on the way to 19°C. On the roads, it’s excellent news for commuters, with no reported traffic incidents or major delays across Sydney at the time of the update. Train passengers, however, should plan ahead. The Airport and South Line is experiencing delays due to vandalism to signalling equipment between Ingleburn and Minto, causing reduced speeds, longer waits, possible platform or stopping changes, and flow-on delays even after repairs are expected around 8:30am. The disruption is also affecting the Leppington and Inner West Line and the Liverpool and Inner West Line. There are also delays on the North Shore Line, where urgent track repairs at Blacktown mean passengers should allow extra travel time, expect less frequent services, and be prepared to change trains. Johnny recommends checking your transport apps and building in a travel buffer before heading out. Plus, Johnny highlights what’s happening around town, including community events in North Sydney, great whale-watching opportunities in the sunny weather, and upcoming waterfront chamber music at Barangaroo.
