The civil war till date, is considered the greatest threat to Nigeria's sovereignty ever. Just before the break out of the war, attempts were made by the Nigerian and the then Biafran government for a peace and reconciliatory talk. This led to the very first conference in the history of Nigeria called the Aburi Conference, held in Aburi, Ghana. The Aburi Accord was adjudged the first and last true attempt to forestall the breakdown of Nigeria's sovereignty by political scholars. All other conferences after that have been termed, 'National Conference & Conmen' as there was usually an ulterior motive by the conveners of these conferences.
