Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. Tell me how today's message helped you become more rooted in faith?

What happens when life changes in an instant, and the life you knew is suddenly no longer possible?

In Part 1 of this two-part conversation on Welcome to the Table: Bible Study & Conversations for Christian Women Over 40, DeAnna Morris sits down with Tonya Johnson, a wife, mom of three, and youth ministry leader, to talk about her unexpected journey through a life-changing medical crisis and the faithfulness of God in the middle of it all.

After back surgery in August 2021, Tonya experienced a spinal fluid leak that led to sudden paralysis from the neck down. What followed was a frightening and uncertain journey filled with medical questions, difficult decisions, a long recovery, and the challenge of learning to live in a very different way.

Tonya opens up about the fear, confusion, loneliness, and feelings of being a burden that accompanied this new season. But she also shares how God met her through His Word, protected her thoughts, and surrounded her family with a church community and friends who became the hands and feet of Jesus.

One of the most powerful parts of Tonya's testimony is her perspective on healing. Although she believes God has the power to heal, she has learned to recognize His faithfulness even when the answer isn't what she prayed for. Through Scripture memory, prayer, and a growing relationship with Jesus, Tonya discovered that God's presence and purpose are not limited by her circumstances.

If you're a Christian woman facing a difficult season, struggling with uncertainty, or wondering how to trust God when He doesn't answer your prayers the way you hoped, this honest conversation will encourage you to keep your heart rooted in His truth.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

    • Trusting God when life changes unexpectedly
    • Finding faith when the future feels uncertain
    • How Scripture memory can anchor your thoughts during hard times
    • Receiving help from others and allowing the church to be the hands and feet of Jesus
    • Recognizing God's faithfulness even when healing doesn't come as we hoped
    • Learning to find joy in a new season of life
    • Discovering that God's purpose for us is bigger than what we can accomplish through striving

Tonya's story reminds us that being rooted in Christ doesn't mean we understand every circumstance or receive every answer we desire. It means learning to trust His character, remain in His Word, and believe that He is still at work—even when life looks nothing like we expected.

☕ Pull up a chair, friend. Join us for Part 1 of Rooted in Hard Seasons, and be sure to subscribe so you don't miss Part 2, when Tonya shares more about the Scripture that sustained her through one of the most challenging seasons of her life.

Together, let's become women who are rooted in Christ and resilient in every season.
