  • Commitment to Our Calling - Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka
    Apr 27 2026

“The thing everybody knows from finding a calling is that it's quite different from finding a career. In the calling mentality, you're not living on the ego level of your consciousness—working because the job pays well or makes life convenient. You're down in the substrate. Some activity or some injustice has called to the deepest level of your nature and demanded an active response.” –David Brooks, The Second Mountain: The Quest for a Moral Life

We are one church worshiping each Sunday at two locations: Mission Campus in Prairie Village and Antioch Campus in south Overland Park. If you are looking for a church home, we invite you to join us any Sunday for worship. At Mission Campus, traditional services are at 9 and 11 a.m., and The Gathering modern worship is at 4 p.m. Worship with us at our Antioch Campus at 10 a.m. Services are live-streamed at villagepres.org/online and on YouTube.

  • The Mountain of Self and the Valley - Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka
    Apr 19 2026

Writer David Brooks’ concept of the “Second Mountain” speaks to a profound spiritual truth: that our lives are a journey from being centered on oneself to being centered on living in a way that creates a better world for everyone. The first mountain is self-centered. The second mountain is centered on a life committed to others. In this sermon series, Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka will explore God’s call to us to move from the first to the second mountain. Brooks says we achieve the second mountain through four commitments: commitment to calling, family, faith, and community.

  • Communion by the Sea - Rev. Alice Whitson
    Apr 14 2026

Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” because they knew it was the Lord...This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after he was raised from the dead. –John 21:12-14
