🎙️On today’s episode of UnloadingMeat, Jared chats with Oklahoma comedian and social media promoter Kelsie Taylor, who, in addition to working on her own hilarious stand-up, does the thankless task of promoting all things comedy in the Tulsa, OK, and surrounding areas! Whether it be taking incredible photos of fellow comics on stage, recording their sets so they can improve and get clips, or creating posts/lists of all the local open mics each week, Kelsie goes out of her way to promote not just herself, but Tulsa comedy as a whole and is a person who does so much for the community. In this episode, we get into who Kelsie is, why she loves this thing we call comedy so much, and what inspired her to help out this community the way she does.

But that's not all true believers! This episode hilariously goes off the rails, covering topics such as:

• Figuring out which “Britney” era you are

• Social media being “A living portfolio”

• Having “Medusa” hair

• Fake Axe Body Spray ads

• Shirley Temple tragedies

• Giving people their flowers while you can

• Green Lantern woes

• Real-life ‘Beauty School Dropouts’

• North, South, East, & Western Wear...Drysdales

• History of meat

• Modern Brady Bunches

• 90’s Garth Brooks shirts

• Tattoo Therapy

• “Coming Out” multiple times

• Comedy ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ moments

• Jared’s soft spot for The Beatles

• When in doubt, blame Smash Mouth!

🎙️On today’s episode of UnloadingMeat, Jared speaks with comedian and former Elvis impersonator Jerry Page, a newcomer to the Tulsa comedy scene. Jerry's relentless drive and commitment to improving his stand-up comedy skills have him traveling miles and miles away from his home in Henryetta, Oklahoma all while striving to perform at 17 to 19 open mics or shows each month, a feat often overlooked by comedians who live closer to the action.

The conversation Swanton bombs into topics of:

• Modern influences in comedy

• Opening sober living houses

• The realities of living in Oklahoma

• Life after prison

• Behind the scenes of content creation

• Making engaging clips

• The origins of Ric Flair's iconic "Woo"

• John Cena's journey into rapping

• In the case of “Uh Huh Huh” v. “HeHe,” aka Graceland vs Neverland

• The legacy of The Big Boss Man

• Big Show's experience with "body" surfing

• Addicts in Attics

• Chris Farley vs Jeff Hardy

• The phrase “Too much trauma to deal with your drama”

• How comedy acts an antidote to drugs

• Growing up as a “Bobby Hill”

• Reacting to commercials from the 1960s that REALLY haven't aged well.

🎙️On today’s episode of UnloadingMeat, Jared sits down with returning guest, comedian Matt Ferrell! Matt graciously swung by the studio to share laugh-out-loud stories from his stand up comedy travels, dishes out proven marriage compromise tips, and opens up about the recent heartbreaking loss of his parents, who both passed just weeks apart while he was on performing on stage. He reveals how he managed to keep the laughs coming despite the tragedy and how to always give the audience the show they deserve. Jared relates Matt’s incredible story to the recent developments with AEW's newcomer, Maya World, sparking a chat about the importance of “giving people their flowers” while you can.

But this episode is not completely serious boys and girls! They also dive headfirst into topics like Walmart's “Pride” Pickleball sets, the art of waking and baking, when your entire persona screams "stoner," scoring those elusive Arby's sponsorships, lying about food poisoning, What's for dinner with Sam Elliott, firemen's pole dancing routines, the epic showdown of Succession vs. McDonald's, Batman's origin tale in stand up, Kansas City Chiefs gossip with Anchorman’s David Koechner, and Matt even breaks down the legacy of Howard Council Saddles? 🎙️On today’s episode of UnloadingMeat, Jared sits down with Ann Smith, the creative powerhouse behind Lady Bits Comedy! Ann is revolutionizing the comedy landscape in the Oklahoma/Tri-State area with her incredible series of comedy shows at the historic Belafonte in Tulsa. Her brainchild, Lady Bits Comedy, is a monthly all-women’s show dedicated to providing support, stage time, and an amazing venue for the talented female comedians in our area including the upcoming show this Friday, August 7th , headlined by the hilarous Kendrea James, with tickets only $10!

In addition to these outstanding events for the ladies, Ann also produces “The Early Weekend Show” once a month, typically on a Thursday (hence the name!). This showcase features performers of all genders and promises a stacked lineup of comedy you won’t want to miss if you’re in the area with the next event taking place Thursday, August 20th at Belafonte!

I had a great time chatting with Ann as she breaks down her reasons for getting into the comedy scene, her admiration for what we do as comics, and even where she sees Lady Bits Comedy in 5 years! It was absolutely fascinating discussing not only her background and history in the restaurant industry, but how she applies the tools and skills developed in that field, to the world of stand up comedy and booking these shows!

We also talked of our mutual love of tattoos, the pieces yet to come, groaned at the unfortunate timing of a particular episode of Bar Rescue, laughed at Sly Stallone questioning a horse at the Center of the Universe in Tulsa King and so much more on this episode of UnloadingMeat with Jared Ralphie Allen!🎙️
