What if we’ve become more focused on escaping the world than following Jesus in it?

In this episode of Unfiltered Grace with Shane, I get personal about something I’ve changed my mind about: rapture theology.

I used to see the end times primarily through the lens of getting out of here. But the more I’ve wrestled with Scripture, the more I’ve had to ask a different question:

What did Jesus actually tell us to do while we’re still here?

Jesus didn’t tell His followers to sit around waiting for an escape. He told us to go, make disciples, love people, serve people, care for the broken, and occupy until He comes.

So what if the Christian hope isn’t ultimately about escaping God’s creation?

What if redemption is bigger than evacuation?

What if we’re so focused on asking “When are we leaving?” that we’ve forgotten to ask “What are we supposed to be doing until He comes?”

I don’t expect everyone to agree with me. You don’t have to walk away from rapture theology because I did.

But I do think it’s worth asking the question.

Because I’m not waiting for an escape.

I’m waiting for a King.

And until He comes…

we’ve got work to do.
