Birth order gets tossed around like a shortcut to understanding yourself: firstborns lead, middle kids smooth things over, and the youngest walks in with charm and chaos. We wanted to test that idea the only way we know how, by mixing real family stories with what the research actually claims. Along the way, we take a few delightful detours into fall life, a book we’re loving, a genuinely good fast food cookie, and the two movies we cannot stop thinking about, including the Elizabeth Holmes Theranos documentary that sounds completely bananas.

Then we get into the heart of it: birth order psychology, sibling dynamics, and why your “role” can feel obvious at home but almost invisible in adult life. We talk about the classic firstborn, middle child, and youngest child traits, and why you can revert to old patterns the second you’re back with siblings or even run into your sibling’s friends. We also dig into how age gaps and gender can reshape everything, like the “oldest girl” effect and the way spacing changes whether kids feel like teammates or strangers sharing a last name.

We bring in the messy middle ground of birth order research too: what studies suggest about personality traits (including the Big Five OCEAN model), what doesn’t hold up, and why genes, family environment, and context can matter more than your spot in the lineup. If you’ve ever wondered why you become “12 years old again” around certain people, or why your family roles feel permanently assigned, this one will feel uncomfortably familiar in the best way.

If you like the conversation, subscribe so you don’t miss next week, share this with a sibling who will argue with your take, and leave a review with your birth order and whether you think it fits you.

  • It's Autumn, Madame!

Fall hits and suddenly everything is a project: homecoming becomes a multi-event marathon, teens look like they hired a glam squad, and parents are left asking when a single dance turned into a whole production. We talk through the sweet parts, the exhausting parts, and the oddly emotional moment of watching your kid walk into a gym that still feels like your own high school memory, even when everything else has changed.

From there, we chase the true spirit of autumn chaos: candy corn pizza. Yes, it exists, and yes, we have opinions. That debate opens the door to weird fall food trends, clickbait headlines, and a big dose of millennial nostalgia with Ecto Cooler, the “it’s back” drink story that comes with a catch. If you love seasonal snacks, retro brands, and internet food news, you’ll feel seen.

Things take a sharper turn when we react to a doomsday prediction that convinced people to quit jobs and sell homes, and we unpack why certainty can be so persuasive even when it’s clearly wrong. Then we come back to comfort with a fast food chocolate chip cookie ranking, practical life updates, and a genuinely satisfying home hack for cleaning a stubborn scorch mark with baking soda and vinegar. We close with Halloween decor, kids’ costume logic, and those small fall moments that somehow become the memories that last.

Subscribe for more honest seasonal catch-ups, share this with your favorite fall person, and leave a review telling us your hottest take: candy on pizza, yes or no?

  • An Episode FORE you

Golf has a funny way of showing up in our lives even when we don’t play and we finally followed that thread. But first, we spiral a little: Sober October, social drinking in your 40s, and the most bananas throwback we’ve seen in a while, a real 1972 Vogue diet built on hard boiled eggs, black coffee, and multiple glasses of Chablis before dinner. It’s equal parts hilarious and horrifying, and it opens up a bigger point about habits that are sustainable versus “rules” that make you miserable.

Food stays in the spotlight in a better way too, from the internet’s obsession with the Fat Bear Champ to a genuinely cozy comfort food moment: the Jackie Kennedy casserole. If you love easy casseroles, nostalgic recipes, and that kugel adjacent vibe of egg noodles, sour cream, cottage cheese, and chives, you’re going to want to try it. We also talk real life logistics, like home renovations, sleep disruptions, and why a simple overnight trip for an Irish dance competition can feel like a luxury retreat.

Then we get into golf for non golfers: why a round takes four to four and a half hours, why the startup costs feel steep, what’s actually fun about mini golf and places like Puttshack, plus golf history from 15th century Scotland to the origin of the word “golf.” We also share golf facts you can drop at a party, like hole in one odds and how expensive a round can get in Las Vegas. We wrap with highs and lows that include sourdough and champagne, a missed birthday, a truly wild tire story, and a proud family diabetes milestone.

If you laughed, learned something, or just felt seen, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find us. What part hit you most, the golf facts or the breakfast wine diet?
