  • The Wind & the Lingering Spirit
    May 27 2026

In January of 1980, a rare tornado tore directly through Turlock, leaving behind twisted metal, shattered homes, destroyed businesses, and a town struggling to understand what had just happened. For twelve terrifying minutes, the funnel carved a path across the city — from open fields near Linwood Avenue to neighborhoods and industrial blocks near South Avenue and Golden State Boulevard. Residents described roofs lifting into the sky, walls collapsing inward, and a sound many would never forget.

In this episode of Turlock Unburied, we revisit the day the storm came to town through archival newspaper accounts, eyewitness memories, and haunting photographs taken in the aftermath.

Then, in the second half of the episode, we travel to an old house on West Main Street where strange events were said to follow the death of a young boy. Family members claimed they heard footsteps, movement in empty rooms, and the unmistakable feeling that someone — or something — remained behind long after the funeral was over.

One story is rooted in documented history.
The other lives in whispers and memory.
Both left scars on Turlock that never fully disappeared.

  • Four Shots Before Sunrise & The Haunting of the Berg Building
    May 20 2026

In this episode of Turlock Unburied, we travel back to a quiet summer morning in July of 1973, when gunfire shattered the silence across from one of Turlock's most beautiful neighborhoods.

  • The House on Canal Drive
    May 13 2026

A quiet two-story house on East Canal Drive became the setting for years of unexplained experiences — footsteps in empty rooms, doors moving on their own, strange feelings in the basement, and encounters that followed multiple families across decades.

In this episode of Turlock Unburied, Scott shares the true story of the house he lived in from 2000 to 2007 and the disturbing events that unfolded inside its walls. What began as odd noises and fleeting moments slowly evolved into something far more unsettling.

But the deeper mystery didn’t emerge until years later, when old newspaper archives revealed a tragic death connected to the home shortly after it was purchased by a longtime Turlock public servant and fire official in the 1940s.

Was the haunting tied to the woman who died in the basement stairwell… or was something else already there?

  • The Horsewhipped Reverend & The House of Miss Johnson
    Apr 22 2026

In this episode of Turlock Unburied, we uncover two unforgettable local stories—one ripped from newspaper headlines, the other whispered through neighborhood legend.

First, we revisit the shocking 1908 scandal of Reverend James Hilbish, the anti-saloon preacher publicly horsewhipped and beaten on Main Street after accusing women tied to the Palm Restaurant of vice and liquor dealing. The assault divided Turlock and made headlines across California.

Then, we step into The House of Miss Johnson—the unsettling memory of a legendary local teacher whose darkened home, strange reputation, and disturbing artwork left a lasting mark long after the house itself was gone.

A tale of public outrage, private mystery, and two sides of old Turlock few have forgotten.
