  • Johnny Gosch: The Precursor to QAnon
    Oct 26 2022

Steph takes the reigns and discusses the disappearance of three young boys in Iowa in the 80's. This case in particular saw the involvement of Ted Gunderson and other conspiracy theorists and led to rumors of a Satanic child sex abuse ring. This is part one of two.

  • "They Talk A Good Talk:" CSAM Offenders and Cults
    Oct 15 2022

***Trigger warning: This episode contains an in-depth discussion about child abuse and cults.***

Today we talk to a former conspiracy theorist, author and true crime buff, Steve Wynne. Jim discusses dealing with CSAM (child sexual abuse material) offenders during his time at the FBI and tells us about  one of the biggest cases he worked on: the Harrod and LaBreque sex cult case.  We also discuss Jacyee Duggard, gaslighting, cults, QAnon and patriarchal opposition to abortion.

Steve Wynne is a former conspiracy theorist, born and raised in the shadow of Three Mile Island. Nowadays, he's a true crime buff and writes dark fiction.

We highly recommend our listeners sign up for a free account on NAMUS - The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. Here you can use your OSINT skills to assist in matching unidentified persons with missing persons cases. We also want to suggest financial or volunteer assistance for The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC.)

Steph's articles that Jim references can be found here and here.

  • Episode 2: White Nationalism and mass shootings
    Oct 8 2022

Steph talks with Seth Daire about mass shootings and White Nationalism. Jim is off saving the universe, so it's just Steph and Seth. (Trying saying that three times fast.) There is a strong connective tissue between extremism and crime; oftentimes the ensuing crime stems from conspiratorial beliefs.

Seth Daire has a BA in Speech Communications from Messiah College and an MA in International Human Rights from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. He spent about 8 years in the Christian Identity and patriot movements in the 80s and 90s before finding better visions for life. He worked at the Colorado Resilience Collaborative, where he did original research on extremist groups in Colorado and assisted with multiple trainings in Colorado. His website is: https://extremismresearch.com

  • Introductions
    Oct 1 2022

Jim Harris is a former FBI agent interested in how conspiracy theories have altered our culture. Stephanie Kemmerer is a former conspiracy theorist interested in true crime. The true crime community is infected with conspiratorial thinking. Why is this? We will discuss cases that demonstrate this intersection. This is our introduction episode.
