Charmayne "Maxee" Maxwell, a beloved member of the Grammy-nominated R&B trio Brownstone, tragically passed away at the age of 46 in what many have called a deeply unsettling and heartbreaking accident.

According to official reports, Maxwell suffered a fatal injury at her Los Angeles home after falling and cutting her neck on a broken wine glass. An incident that left fans and loved ones grappling with shock and sorrow.

Maxwell first captured hearts in the 1990s as part of Brownstone, signed to Michael Jackson’s MJJ Music label. With timeless hits like “If You Love Me” and “Grapevyne,” she helped define an era of soulful, powerful R&B. Her voice, presence, and artistry left an indelible mark on the music world.

Her sudden and mysterious death raised lingering questions and cast a shadow over a career that had brought joy to so many. Maxwell is remembered not only for her talent but for the warmth and spirit she brought to everything she touched.

In 1998, Lillias "Friggy" Landrum was found murdered in the Akron home she shared with Tony Rahmel Smith, a man she met through prison ministry work and later married. Investigators discovered that Landrum had been killed and her body dismembered in the basement of the residence. Smith later pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Prosecutors described the case as one of the most gruesome homicide cases their office had prosecuted.

Today, Landrum's family continues to fight against Smith's release. According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Smith's current parole eligibility date is December 1, 2032, with a parole review scheduled for October 2032.
