    Title: Living in the Assembly

    Scripture: 1 Peter 5:1-11

    Speaker: Pastor Ben Jennings

    Date: May 5, 2024 (Sunday Evening Service)

    We can understand God’s plan for believers to live life in the assembly by understanding four roles associated with the church.

    1. The Shepherds (v. 1-3)

    A. Feed the flock. (v. 2)

    B. Leads the flock. (v. 2)

    C. Protects the flock. (v. 2)

    How?

    A. Not out of duty, but willingly. (v. 2)

    B. Not for mere money, but readily. (v. 2)

    C. Not by lordship, but by example. (v. 3)

    2. The Flock (v. 5-7)

    A. Submits to leaders. (v. 5)

    B. Submits to each other. (v. 5)

    C. Submits to God. (v. 6)

    D. Depends on God. (v. 7)

    3. The Great Shepherd (v. 4, 10-11)

    A. Rewards (v. 4)

    B. Shepherds (v. 10)

    1. Make you perfect (v. 10)

    2. Stablish (v. 10)

    3. Strengthen (v. 10)

    4. Settle (v. 10)

    C. Deserves Glory and Dominion. (v. 11)

    4. The Roaring Lion. (v. 8-9)

    The flock and the shepherds must be aware. Why?

    The Roaring Lion does two things: (v. 8-9)

    1. Prowls. (v. 8)

    2. Devours. (v. 9)

    How do shepherds' and sheep respond?

    * Sobriety

    * Vigilance

    * Resistance

    Scripture: Psalm 150
