Are we repeating the same mistakes that led to the downfall of ancient Israel and Judah?

Welcome to the audio-only podcast edition of Tomorrow's Truth Found Today with Mark!

In Episode 28, Part 3 of our series, "Things We Shouldn't Mix," Mark takes us on a journey through approximately 400–500 years of biblical history in a study he calls "A Downhill Slide."

From the days of Israel's judges to the reigns of Saul, David, and Solomon, we explore how a nation once guided by God gradually turned toward rebellion, compromise, pagan worship, and idolatry.

We'll examine how Solomon's decisions helped set the stage for a divided kingdom, why Jeroboam introduced golden calf worship, and how the continued disobedience of Israel and Judah eventually resulted in captivity.

But this episode isn't just about ancient history. It's about us today.

Mark draws thought-provoking parallels between the spiritual decline of ancient Israel and the moral and spiritual challenges facing our modern world.

Are we following a similar path? Have we allowed worldly influences to compromise our faith? And what can we learn from the warnings God gave His people thousands of years ago?

Most importantly, this episode reminds us that God's message is not simply one of judgment, but also of mercy, forgiveness, repentance, and hope.

Through Jesus Christ, genuine spiritual revival is still possible, and it begins within each of our hearts.

In this episode, you'll hear about:

    • Israel's rejection of God's leadership and its demand for a king.
    • Saul's rebellion and the consequences of disobedience.
    • Solomon's compromises with pagan worship.
    • Jeroboam's golden calves and the division of Israel.
    • The eventual captivity of Israel and Judah.
    • Biblical warnings that remain relevant today.
    • The importance of repentance, forgiveness, and putting Jesus Christ first.

    Key Scriptures: 1 Samuel 8 and 15; 1 Kings 11–12; Exodus 32; Jeremiah 25 and 29; Romans 1:28–32; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:9; and John 14:6.

    Episode 27 — Things We Shouldn’t Mix, Part 2

What happens when one person knowingly takes something God has said to leave alone?

In Episode 27 of Tomorrow’s Truth Found Today, we continue our study, “Things We Shouldn’t Mix,” by looking at the account of Achan found in the book of Joshua.

Following Israel’s remarkable victory at Jericho, God had given specific instructions concerning what was—and was not—to be taken from the city. But one man, Achan, chose to disregard those instructions. He secretly took a Babylonian garment, silver, and gold and hid them among his possessions.

What may have seemed like a private act had consequences that reached far beyond Achan himself. Israel soon suffered a humiliating defeat at Ai, and Joshua was left asking God why.

In this episode, we examine Joshua chapters 6–8, the sin of Achan, Israel’s defeat at Ai, and the consequences that followed. More importantly, we consider what this history can teach us today about obedience, covetousness, repentance, our possessions, and the things we allow into our lives.

Are there things that appear innocent or harmless but, upon closer examination, conflict with God’s Word? And when we discover something in our lives that shouldn't be there, what are we willing to do about it?

Achan’s story reminds us that our choices don't always affect us alone—and that there are some things we should never mix with our walk and worship of God.

    Scriptures discussed include: Joshua 6–8; Joshua 7:1–26; Genesis 17:7–8; Deuteronomy 1:8 and 9:4–5; Numbers 33:50–53; Isaiah 59:1–2; and 1 John 1:9.

I encourage you to open your Bible, examine these passages for yourself, and consider the lessons they hold for us today.

Until next time, always remember, my friends:

    You are worth it.

May God richly bless and keep you.

In this episode of Tomorrow’s Truth Found Today, Mark examines a challenging question: Have we allowed pagan practices and traditions to become mixed with our worship of God?

Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly warns His people against idolatry, false worship, divination, and adopting practices that lead them away from Him. Yet as generations have passed, traditions and beliefs have become intertwined to the point that we may no longer stop and ask an important question: Is what we are doing actually pleasing to God?

In Part One of this discussion, Mark explores the biblical warnings against mixing pagan practices with the worship of God and considers how easily people can become desensitized to customs that have been accepted for generations.

The episode also examines astrology, divination, the occult, idolatry, obedience, repentance, and the importance of testing our traditions and actions against Scripture rather than simply accepting them because they have become commonplace.

    Among the Scriptures discussed are Deuteronomy 4 and 12, Leviticus 20 and 26, Jeremiah 10:2–3, Isaiah 5:20, Matthew 7:15–20, Acts 7:42, 2 Thessalonians 2:11–12, Colossians 3:2–11, 2 Peter 3:9, and many others.

The purpose of this episode is to encourage each of us to examine our own lives, study God's Word, pray for understanding, and determine whether anything has found its way into our faith that simply doesn't belong there.

God offers us His love, forgiveness, guidance, and the promise of salvation, but He also calls us to faith, obedience, repentance, and endurance.

So the question is: Are we giving God pure worship, or have we created “The Wrong Mix”?

Listen, study the Scriptures for yourself, and decide.

This is Part One. In upcoming episodes, Mark will look at examples from Scripture and history that demonstrate what happened when people chose to mix pagan practices with the things of God.

    And remember:

    YOU ARE WORTH IT!

This Trick Is No Treat – Part Two | Episode 25

In Episode 25 of Tomorrow’s Truth Found Today, Mark returns with Part Two of “This Trick Is No Treat,” continuing his examination of Halloween, its historical roots, and what Scripture has to say about a Christian’s relationship with traditions connected to pagan practices.

In Part One, we explored some of the ancient beliefs and customs associated with Samhain and the Druids. In this episode, Mark continues that history, including how October 31 became known as All Hallows’ Eve and eventually Halloween.

But this episode goes beyond history.

Mark asks listeners to consider a more personal question: If we learn that a tradition has origins that conflict with our faith, how should we respond?

Through Scripture, including Ezekiel 33:11, Ephesians 6:14–18, and Genesis 19:26, Mark encourages Christians not simply to accept traditions because they are popular or considered harmless, but to study God’s Word, seek the truth, and have the courage to live according to their faith.

Halloween is often viewed as a harmless celebration filled with costumes, candy, jack-o’-lanterns, and trick-or-treating. But how much do we really know about its history—and should its origins matter to Christians today?

In Episode 24 of Tomorrow’s Truth Found Today, Mark Long begins a two-part study examining the history and traditions surrounding Halloween.

In Part One, Mark explores the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, the Druids and their religious practices, beliefs surrounding the dead and the supernatural, and the pagan influences that became associated with Halloween over the centuries.

More importantly, this episode turns to Scripture to ask a deeper question: How should followers of God respond to traditions and practices with roots in paganism and the occult?

Through passages from Ephesians, Revelation, Hebrews, Matthew, Ecclesiastes, Deuteronomy, and other books of the Bible, Mark contrasts darkness with light, death with life, and the traditions of mankind with the teachings of God.

Is Halloween really nothing more than innocent fun—or is there more behind the celebration than most people realize?

Listen to “This Trick Is No Treat — Part One” and then take the time to study the history and Scriptures for yourself.

And always remember: You Are Worth It!

Part Two will continue the study of Halloween, its history, traditions, and what Scripture has to say about them.

In Part 2 of this continuing Bible study, Mark Long examines what Scripture says about one of Christianity's most debated teachings—the pre-tribulation rapture.

Rather than relying on popular opinion or long-held traditions, this episode explores key biblical passages that address Christ's return, the Great Tribulation, and the gathering of God's people. Together we'll examine whether the Bible teaches a secret removal of believers before the tribulation, or whether Scripture points to a different timeline.

This episode includes discussion of passages from Matthew 24, John 14 and 17, 2 Thessalonians, Revelation, James, and Philippians, encouraging listeners to search the Scriptures and test every teaching against God's Word.

Episode 21 – Gone in the Twinkling of an Eye? (Part 1)

One of the most widely accepted teachings in modern Christianity is the belief that believers will be secretly taken to heaven before the Great Tribulation. But is that what the Bible actually teaches?

In Part 1 of this study, Mark Long begins examining the origins of the modern rapture doctrine, its historical development, and what Scripture says about the trials believers are called to endure before Christ's return.

    Together we'll explore:

    • The history behind the modern rapture teaching
    • John Nelson Darby's influence on end-times theology
    • Jesus' warnings about spiritual deception
    • What the Bible says about the Great Tribulation
    • Why believers are repeatedly called to endure until the end
    • Scriptures that challenge the idea of a secret pre-tribulation rapture

This episode encourages listeners to set aside tradition, open their Bibles, and carefully examine what God's Word actually says.

    Key Scriptures:
    Matthew 24 • Matthew 10:16 • John 16:33 • Acts 14:22 • James 1:2–3 • Hebrews 12:5–6 • Ephesians 4:14 • 1 Corinthians 10:13 • Jeremiah 30:7 • 2 Corinthians 6:2
