In this episode of The Rank Podcast, John continues his Best Picture Movie Rankings series with a look at the 1962 film To Kill a Mockingbird. Set in the racially divided town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the Great Depression, the story follows young Scout Finch as she and her brother Jem are raised by their father, Atticus Finch, a principled lawyer. When Atticus defends Tom Robinson, a Black man falsely accused of assaulting a white woman, the trial exposes the deep-rooted prejudice of the community. As the children witness injustice, fear, and moral courage firsthand, they also learn powerful lessons about empathy, integrity, and standing up for what is right in the face of overwhelming opposition.
