I’m your host, Ann Lucente, and whether you’ve been here from the start or this is your very first listen, Thank you so much for being part of this journey. This is a space where we talk about resilience, pivots, and the power of walking together along the way. So, today’s guest is someone deeply connected to both me and this podcast. When I first transitioned from having a cohost to hosting Time to Elevate solo with featured guests back in March of 2024, my very first guest was the same person who’s joining me today. Since then, so many exciting things have been unfolding in her career. She’s a multi-talented artist—an accomplished singer songwriter, a growing actor, and the creative mind and voice behind the Time to Elevate theme song you hear at the start and finish of every episode. Her artistry is literally woven into the heart of this show. Before I introduce you to her, let me share a little bit about her: She grew up in a small town in New York, writing songs about heartbreak she had never experienced yet. Coming of age in the church and navigating her parents’ divorce made her really comfortable with messiness, and she discovered a love for expressing that through music. She has written songs about nearly every event in her life—playing with concepts of young love, feelings of not being good enough, and dealing with loss. She says, “Granted, many of those early songs were not very good, (I disagree!) but it was during that time I realized music was for me”. When she found herself turning to songwriting as a coping mechanism, she knew she had something special. When lockdown hit in 2020, the messiness she had grown accustomed to only amplified, and she finally decided to write about every messy thing she could find. Those songs became her stories. Today we’re stepping into a fascinating space where scholarship, theater practice, and human connection all overlap. My guest today has dedicated her life to exploring the power of performance, both in history and in our present moment. You know, When I interview someone, I usually have met them before, or at least have a sense of how we’ll connect. With today’s guest, I had heard so many wonderful things about her through her parents, who are both amazing actors and voice actors but still, until I actually meet someone, I never really know how we’ll connect. Let me tell you, the moment we met for a brief sound check, I felt an instant connection. She’s the kind of person who immediately makes you feel comfortable and excited to be in conversation with her. Before we get into it, let me share a little bit of her story: She is the Assistant Director of Graduate Professional Development at UC Santa Barbara and a PhD candidate in Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies. Her dissertation develops new performance theories to better understand how English Protestant identity was shaped in relation to other faith traditions during the early modern period. Her professional background is just as wide-ranging, spanning higher education, student affairs, public school teaching, and arts administration. She has also presented her research at national and international conferences, including the Shakespeare Association of America. Beyond her academic work, she is a theater director, playwright, and intimacy professional, with credits that stretch from Shakespeare adaptations to contemporary performance festivals. In 2022, she co-founded The Public Domain Players, a nonprofit theater company dedicated to making “found theater” more accessible, where she wrote, produced, and directed her play Finding Jud(a)ea. And when she’s not working, she’s weightlifting, reading, or on the hunt for the best pizza spots in Southern California. As we close out the last months of 2025, I’ve been highlighting a special series I call “Empowered Daughters”. Today’s guest is the second of this series and someone I could not imagine my life without. The last time she was here, a little over a year ago, she was still finding her way. Since then, she has risen with incredible strength and achieved so much. She is resilience in motion, with an unbelievable ability to pivot when life takes unexpected turns. When she puts her mind to something, there is no stopping her. She is powerful, determined, and a true force. And here’s the part that makes this conversation even more special for this end of year theme—she IS my actual daughter. I could not be more proud or more excited to welcome her back to the podcast. Let me give you a glimpse into who she is before we get started. She is an actress based in Charleston, SC, originally from upstate NY. A graduate of Western Connecticut State University, she honed her craft in theatre performance and discovered a love for behind the scenes work as well. While she has a great love and respect for the theatre, she is currently focused on pursuing a career in film acting. She is excited to continue working towards her future in the film industry and is currently exploring all aspects of the industry from acting to directing to filmmaking. She is passionate about creating powerful, meaningful stories through diverse, complex characters and looks forward to sharing more of these stories in the future. First we each had sons, just a year apart. Then, twins for me, followed by twins for her. Life -mirrored life. And through that friendship, I was given an unexpected gift—my very special guest today - someone I might never have met otherwise. She’s a brilliant artist whose work feels like it captures souls, not just faces. Her portraits are so full of life, you can almost see them breathe. She is one of those blessings that reminds me how deeply life rewards us when we stay open to its journey. She’s an award-winning portrait artist and fantasy illustrator whose body of work includes collaborations with Brotherwise Games, Escape Plan Games, General Pencil Company, and D&DBeyond. She has also created works in the worlds of The Kingkiller Chronicles and The Cosmere. Beyond her studio, she travels across the United States giving lectures, teaching classes, and offering traditional art demonstrations. Her creative life is a mix of commissions, freelance work, gallery show pieces, and educational content. I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it —joining that community last year brought me more than I ever could’ve imagined. And today’s guest is one of the best examples of that. He was chosen as the mentor of the month in our group and let me tell you—he didn’t just wear the title, he showed up. He joined our script workouts all month long and brought an energy and generosity that you could feel, even through a screen. I didn’t know much about him, but everyone in the group was already singing his praises. And once we connected, I got it. He just has this way about him—warm, grounded, inspiring… and very funny! Big thanks to my friend Mel Rose for suggesting he’d be a perfect guest for Time to Elevate. So when he sent me his bio… I was blown away. Truly. Here’s just a little bit of who he is. He’s been a working voiceover talent for nearly four decades, and you’ve definitely heard his voice—whether you knew it or not... because I certainly didn’t! His talents have been featured in commercials for Bank of America, Butterball, Clorox, Excedrin, GMC Truck, Dole, L.L. Bean, the Oregon and North Carolina Lotteries, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Kroger, the National Association of Realtors, and Southwest Airlines—plus countless spots for Armed Forces Radio. He’s brought to life hundreds of character voices for Disney, Hanna-Barbera, and Warner Brothers beloved shows, including some of my favorites - Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Winnie the Pooh, DuckTales, and Captain Planet. Add in over 15 characters for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, plus roles in major titles like X-Men, James Bond: GoldenEye 2, Enter the Matrix, and several others he can’t even name because of NDAs—yeah, it’s safe to say this man has range. He was the live announcer for Last Comic Standing for 8 seasons, narrated True Hollywood Stories for E!, and was handpicked to voice NASCAR’s 75th Anniversary videos. For over 25 years, he’s also been the voice behind U.S. military training—and sincerely apologizes to any active or retired veterans for the number of times they’ve had to hear his voice! And fun fact—he doesn’t just play people. He’s also barked like a dog in commercials for Citibank, Carl’s Jr., and Toyota... and he voiced every dog in SimCity’s Pet Expansion Pack. He’s also a producer, director, stand-up comic, and a fabulous margarita master—and he somehow does all this with a smile. But what makes him feel like the luckiest man on the planet? His incredible family, and the voiceover career he’s built doing what he loves.     If you’ve been here before, you’ve probably heard me mention the VO Academy and what I did not expect when I joined the VO Academy was just how much of a game changer it would be—not just for my voiceover career, but for the incredible people I’ve met along the way. I always say that my greatest joy, in voiceover and in this podcast, comes from the people I connect with.

    So That brings me to my guest today—he’s one of the blessings from my VO Academy journey. He’s the only person who could convince me to attempt an English accent for the first time for his audio drama production—though, let’s be real, it was more of a Bronx-English hybrid! But the best part? He made me feel like I nailed it.

    Before we jump in—here is a peek into his world:

    From driving a tractor at the age 6 on his grandparents' farm to commanding the stage in over 40 theater productions, my guest has always had a strong presence.

    In high school a switch from debate class to drama led to award-winning performances and even a college scholarship.

    After decades in sales and training, he found his true passion in voiceover, lending his voice to everything from commercials and documentaries to eLearning and classic radio dramas. With nearly a decade in the industry and a heart for the "little guy," he brings stories to life with professionalism and warmth.
