But Chris Davies' men, off the back of a 2-0 away win at Sheffield Wednesday, were eyeing back to back wins on their travels. Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham City. A battle of teams that aren't very good at playing away from home, and a golden chance for the Blues to finally get three points on the road. What BCFC met was a spirited SWFC team, lining up with Emile Heskey's son on the pitch and Nathan Redmond on the bench.

Blues, meanwhile? Three new signings, none of them starting. A forward line that's not been firing away from home. No sign of a clean sheet. And the small matter of Kyogo.

Birmingham City's wretched away form suggested that an away trip to Swansea City - with their great home form - was not what was required. With Keshi Anderson and Lyndon Dykes leaving in midweek, and injuries rife, the Blues squad looked thing. And a subs bench for the Championship match with U21 players pointed to part of the problem.
