  • Ep. 43: Elizabeth Barraza: She Was Setting Up a Garage Sale When the Killer Walked Up
    Sep 8 2026

On January 25, 2019, 29-year-old Elizabeth “Liz” Barraza was setting up for a garage sale outside her home in Tomball, Texas. She and her husband, Sergio, were supposed to leave for their fifth wedding anniversary trip just two days later.

But minutes after Sergio left for work, a dark truck pulled up. The driver walked toward Liz, and the doorbell camera captured Liz saying “good morning.”

    Seconds later, she was shot.

Liz’s murder was caught on camera. Investigators had surveillance footage, a vehicle description, a tight timeline, and years of tips — but no one has been charged.

In this episode, we’re looking at Liz’s life, the timeline of that morning, the surveillance footage, the investigation, and the theories that have been publicly discussed.

If you have any information about the murder of Elizabeth Barraza, you can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online.

  • Ep 41: Fern Feather’s Killer Faced Life in Prison — Then Walked Out on Probation
    Jun 26 2026

Fern Feather was known as a kind, free spirit. Someone who loved birds, flowers, animals, and making the people around her feel seen.

In April 2022, Fern stopped to help a man who was hitchhiking in Vermont. Within days, she was gone.

The man who admitted to stabbing Fern, Seth Brunell, was charged with second-degree murder and faced a possible life sentence. But nearly three years later, after the trial finally began, the case suddenly unraveled. Instead of a murder conviction, Fern’s killer was released on probation.

This is the story of Fern Feather, who she was, what happened to her, and how a case that once carried the possibility of life in prison ended with no additional prison time.
