The world might be on fire this week, but this episode isn't really about wildfires. It's about something that is almost as terrifying to many.
Accountability.
We start with air quality alerts, contaminated lettuce (we cannot handle when the salads poison us), and wondering what comes next in this South Park / Simpsons mashup.
We've been thinking about something a lot lately -- why accountability is so hard, why real change can't happen just because someone else asks for it, and what healing looks like when you're willing (and ONLY then) to be honest with yourself.
We talk about estrangement, therapy, and why so many adult children aren't asking their parents to be perfect. They're asking them to acknowledge the impact of their actions without making it about their intentions.
Because two things can be true.
You can love your child and still hurt them. You can do your best and still have work to do.
