In this episode of Light in the Rain, we talk about one of the hardest seasons of our lives: 2025.

As Koleson’s body became weaker and everyday life became harder for him, we watched his world slowly change. Things that once came easily became difficult. His body was struggling, and as his parents, we were watching it happen while desperately wishing we could take it all away.

2 Corinthians 4:8–9 says:

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

Those words became incredibly real for us.

Koleson was hard pressed. His body was failing him. Our family was exhausted, scared, and hurting. There were moments when we didn't understand what God was doing or why he was allowing so much suffering.

But even in the hardest moments, we were not abandoned.

This episode is about what it looks like to hold onto God when your circumstances keep getting harder. It's about watching someone you love struggle and learning that faith doesn't mean you won't hurt, it means you don't have to walk through the hurt alone.

Koleson's story continues to teach us that being struck down isn't the same as being destroyed. And sometimes, God's presence isn't found in changing the circumstance, but in carrying us through it.
