The College Football Playoff committee put Notre Dame at No. 11, and now No. 1 Miami comes to South Bend. Is this an elimination game for the Irish? Jake and Will break down CJ Carr and the Notre Dame offense, the injuries piling up on the Irish defense, and whether anyone can slow down Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney.

It might be the best Saturday of the season, so the guys also preview the Holy War, where BYU and Utah meet as top 10 teams for the first time, and Georgia at Ole Miss. Then it is time for the Walk-On Weekly 10 presented by Battle Bets. Will won last week 6-4. Can Jake get even?

Is the Big Ten a fraud? The first College Football Playoff rankings are out, and Jake and Will do not hold back. Alabama is No. 5 with two losses, undefeated UCLA is No. 8, and Wake Forest sits all the way down at No. 16. The guys go through the full top 25 and debate whether the committee got any of it right.

Then it is on to the Big Ten. Ohio State lost 30-18 at USC with a true freshman at quarterback. Indiana needed a 60-yard field goal to force overtime against Minnesota before winning 23-16. Iowa shut out Wisconsin 30-0. Seven teams now sit at two conference losses, and Will makes a bold call on how the Big Ten will do in the playoff.

Topics discussed:

• The first CFP rankings: Alabama at No. 5, UCLA at No. 8, Wake Forest at No. 16
• Is the No. 2 ranking cursed? Notre Dame, BYU and Ohio State lost in three straight weeks

Can Utah save the Big 12? Jake and Will recap a chaotic Week 8 of college football, as three more top-10 teams went down and the Big 12 playoff picture changed in one afternoon.

Big 12

• UCF 39, No. 2 BYU 31 (2OT): Scott Frost and the Knights pull off the biggest win in program history, plus a breakdown of the strangest ending of the season
• Cincinnati 37, No. 8 Texas Tech 24: JC French IV throws four touchdowns, Cole Tabb runs wild, and the Cincinnati social team trolls Cody Campbell
• No. 10 Utah 21, No. 14 Houston 13: Devon Dampier runs for 150 yards and Utah takes control of the Big 12, while Houston proves it is a team nobody wants to play
• Six contenders still in the Big 12 race and the big games left on the schedule

Big Ten

• Wisconsin 24, No. 16 USC 7: Wisconsin holds USC to negative rushing yards and Sebastian Cheeks wrecks the game
• Minnesota 13, No. 15 Iowa 10: Minnesota out-Iowas Iowa with a blocked punt and a walk-off field goal
• Illinois 21, Oregon 10: Oregon’s season takes another hit as Illinois wins with a backup quarterback
• Is Northwestern a fraud?

SEC

• South Carolina 27, No. 11 Tennessee 24: LaNorris Sellers at his best and his worst in one game, and a walk-off field goal sends Tennessee home
• LSU handles Auburn and Kentucky keeps rolling

Why is Texas favored over Ole Miss? The Longhorns have lost two straight, Colin Simmons is out, and Arch Manning may be splitting first-team reps, yet Vegas still has Texas favored at home. Jake and Will debate whether the line makes any sense, and the two do not agree.

Topics discussed:

• Ole Miss at Texas: Trinidad Chambliss against a Texas defense without the nation’s sack leader, and the pressure on Arch Manning
• Houston at Utah: the game of the week, and whether Utah has been tested enough to be a playoff team
• The new Big 12, where defense is now the norm (unless you are West Virginia)
• Indiana at Michigan: Tommy Carr steps in, and can Indiana bounce back after the loss to Ohio State?
• Walk-On Weekly 10 presented by Battle Bets: North Dakota State vs. New Mexico, Pitt vs. Miami, Texas Tech vs. Cincinnati, LSU vs. Auburn, BYU vs. UCF, Tennessee vs. South Carolina, Iowa vs. Minnesota, Indiana vs. Michigan, Ole Miss vs. Texas, and Houston vs. Utah

We owe BYU an apology. Bear Bachmeier threw for a touchdown, ran for two more, and caught one himself as BYU beat No. 2 Notre Dame 28-24 in Provo. Will steps up to the Walk-On Redshirts podium to make it right with Cougar fans, and Jake and Will break down a weekend where five of the top seven teams lost.

Topics discussed:

• BYU vs. Notre Dame: the CJ Carr fumble before halftime, the one-second controversy, and whether the Irish are still a national title contender
• Miami vs. Florida State: a holding call that wiped out a Hail Mary, a final play ruled an interception, and how the best teams survive a bad game
• Ohio State vs. Indiana: Nick Marsh steps out of bounds, Julian Sayin goes down, and what comes next for the Buckeyes
• Auburn vs. Georgia: three Gunner Stockton turnovers and a walk-off field goal take down No. 1
• Tennessee vs. Alabama: does Tennessee have the best defense in the country?
• Florida vs. Texas: should Arch Manning and Texas go their separate ways?
• Houston vs. Oklahoma State: can the Big 12 get two teams into the playoff?
• Quick hits: LSU vs. Mississippi State and Ole Miss vs. Missouri

Week 7 delivered pure chaos, and Jake is breaking down his biggest reactions from a Saturday that reminded everyone why college football is the best sport there is.

Topics discussed:

• BYU takes down Notre Dame: Bear Bachmeier accounts for four touchdowns, the BYU defense bends but never breaks, and the fake punt decision that still does not sit right
• Did Notre Dame really lose on one second, or did they leave too many opportunities on the field, including CJ Carr’s fumbled spike before the half?
• The SEC is a mess: Georgia, Texas, Alabama and Missouri all go down. Will the SEC champion have two losses, and how many SEC teams make the playoff?
• Julian Sayin goes down at Indiana: what Ohio State looks like with Luke Fahey heading to USC after the bye week
• Quarterback play across college football feels like it has taken a step back. Could the Heisman ceremony feature more skill players than quarterbacks this year?
• Wake Forest is 6-1 under Jake Dickert with Gio Lopez under center. Is this a top 15 team hiding in plain sight?
• Why Week 7 was the perfect reminder of what makes this sport special

This is the second of this week’s two episodes. The Week 6 Recap is out now wherever you listen.

Topics in this episode:

• Missouri at Ole Miss. Jamal Roberts leads the SEC in rushing, and Austin Simmons returns to face the program that let him go. Can Trinidad Chambliss overcome the Ole Miss defense?
