Documentary Overview:
The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari is a 2022 documentary detailing the tragic December 9, 2019 volcanic eruption of Whakaari (White Island) on the North Island of New Zealand. Through video footage, rescuer and survivor testimony, the story of that day is captured.
The group discusses the heroing accounts of both the survivors and rescuers on the day that the volcano exploded. We really dive into the efforts made by the members of the community to rally together to save lives, and also discuss that survivors and their stories. It is definitely a story of overcoming advesity and it reminds you that there are still good people in the world.
