On this episode of The Vocal Minority with Nick and Steve...the guys kick things off with a scheme so ridiculous it could only come from the Trump administration. From there, Nick and Steve dive into the spectacularly short career of Katee Zachariah, whose stint as Trump’s press secretary reportedly lasted just five days before she was fired on October 16. The guys play a clip from her appearance on Sean Hannity, where she complained about being exhausted before her first and only press conference because of all the traveling she’d been doing. They also dig into questions surrounding her legal credentials, including claims that she’s been presenting herself as a lawyer for years despite reportedly never passing the bar. Could that have been the final straw?

Things take a much darker turn as the guys discuss disturbing surveillance footage out of Houston showing an ICE agent driving an SUV into 48 year old Mexican construction worker Miguel Parra Hernandez as he attempted to flee. Hernandez, who reportedly has lived in the United States for nearly 30 years, suffered devastating leg injuries requiring multiple surgeries. Nick and Steve take on the increasingly grotesque practices of ICE and why Americans need to get louder about what’s happening in their own communities.

The guys also discuss the horrifying attack on American photojournalist Heidi Levine while she was covering Israeli settlers attacking Palestinian farmers harvesting olives in the occupied West Bank. Levine, who was working for The Washington Post, says she was kicked roughly 50 times, had her camera equipment stolen and suffered injuries including a broken rib and a serious finger injury requiring surgery.

Back in the United States, Republican Congressman Andy Harris of Maryland gets into a confrontation with University of Maryland graduate student and journalist, threatening her with arrest and demanding her camera be taken away for recording him. The guys discuss the escalating hostility toward journalists and a political movement that continues to treat the free press as public enemy number one.

Finally, with the No Kings protests taking place Saturday, October 17, Nick and Steve remind everyone why showing up, speaking out and voting early matter more than ever as the midterm elections approach.
