The Magic Cap: Giri, a doctor's assistant, receives a tasselled cap from the dying occult healer Chandrayya, whose spirit enters it after death to predict the future and help people.
The Rise and Trouble: Giri earns money and trust by helping a wealthy merchant through the cap's spirit. Eventually, the spirit stops speaking, leading frustrated locals to label Giri a fraud.
The Royal Threat: The King's nephew forces Giri at knifepoint to use the cap to foresee a forced marriage. When placed on his head, the spirit paralyzes the nephew's sword hand, forcing him to choose between the marriage and his hand.
Resolution: The terrified nephew relents, saving Giri. The spirit reveals it returned only to protect him, advises Giri to keep the secret, and tells him to move to a new village to live peacefully.
