One of the questions I get asked most often is how I keep 20 clinicians busy in a completely private-pay group practice, especially when so many therapists are struggling to fill their caseloads.
When practice owners ask me how to find private pay clients, they usually expect me to talk about SEO, Google Ads, networking, or website strategy. And yes, those things matter. But there's another piece of the puzzle that I think gets overlooked.
Recently, I noticed that nearly all of our clinicians were getting busier except one. She was an excellent therapist with a strong specialty, so why weren't clients booking with her?
The answer revealed something important about how to attract clients that goes far beyond marketing.
In this episode, I'm sharing the client-matching strategy we use at Thriving Child Center and why effective communication between clinicians and our admin team makes such a difference.
I talk about:
- Why effective communication with your intake team can make or break a clinician's caseload
- What prospective clients actually want to know before choosing a therapist
- How to make your website and intake conversations more personal and compelling
- Why understanding your clinicians is one of the most valuable therapist resources for growing a group practice
When you're figuring out how to find private pay clients, it's easy to focus entirely on bringing more inquiries through the door. But what happens after someone reaches out matters just as much.
Knowing how to attract clients means understanding what makes each clinician uniquely valuable and helping prospective clients recognize the right fit.
That's why I prioritize effective communication about each therapist's personality, approach, and strengths. It's also why I believe some of the best therapist resources are the relationships and conversations that help your team truly understand one another.
If you're wondering how to find private pay clients or how to attract clients who are excited to work with your clinicians, this episode will help you rethink your matching process.
You don't necessarily need more marketing. Sometimes you need to better communicate the value that's already inside your practice.
And as you grow, don't overlook the human connections that make your clinicians successful. Those relationships may be among your most important therapist resources
