In this episode of the Studio 70 Podcast, Austin and Phil share how they approached adapting Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic into a feature-length fan film, from working through the original story and characters to deciding what needed to stay, what could change, and what would translate best on screen.

We also share lessons learned throughout the process, practical advice for adapting a screenplay, and some of the creative challenges we faced bringing KOTOR from game to film.

Whether you’re adapting existing material or writing your own screenplay, this conversation offers a behind-the-scenes look at the decisions that shape a story long before the cameras start rolling.

With KOTOR I: Escape from Taris officially out in the galaxy, we’re looking back on the journey.

In this conversation, we talk about what it was like to finish the film, the incredible reaction from Star Wars and KOTOR fans, some of the biggest struggles we faced along the way, and the moments that made it all worth it.

We also look ahead to KOTOR II: Search for the Star Forge and share what we learned from the first film, what we’re doing differently this time around, and what we’re most excited about as we continue the story.

The journey is far from over.

KOTOR II: Search for the Star Forge premieres May 4, 2027.
