The Six Shooter, “Cheyenne Express,” originally broadcast on NBC Radio on March 7, 1954, is episode 24 of the classic Western series starring James Stewart as wandering cowboy Britt Ponset. Written by Frank Burt and directed by Jack Johnstone, this sustaining-broadcast episode finds Ponset in a tense small-town encounter shaped by fear, suspicion, and the approaching Cheyenne Express.

After Wilbur English shoots Floyd Winters, he becomes convinced that danger is closing in from every direction. As he prepares to leave town on the train, Britt Ponset is drawn into a wary, character-driven Western tale of mistaken identity and mounting apprehension.
