    On this episode, we discuss the landmark paper on breast implant ALCL with senior author Professor Fabio Santanelli di Pompeo, including relative risks of ALCL with different types of breast implants and when explantation is appropriate.

    Prof Santanelli also holds a governmental role in the Italian Ministry of Health so we also delve into the intersection of healthcare and governmental policy making.

    Prof Fabio Santanelli di Pompeo is currently a Full Professor and the Director of the Chair of Plastic Surgery at the University of Rome "Sapienza," Faculty of Medicine and Psychology, where he also leads the School of Specialization. Since 2003, he has been in charge of the Plastic Surgery Unit at Sant'Andrea Hospital in Rome. He was President of the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS) in 2023/24. More recently, he has been focusing on the study of Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, and Face Allotrasplantation in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Health.
