When You Save Your Child From A Most Unlikely Abuser
    Oct 16 2024
The Private Record — Episode 39 — When You Save Your Child From A Most Unlikely Abuser THIS IS THE FINAL EPISODE OF SEASON ONE OF 'THE PRIVATE RECORD'. (More on that below!) But boy oh boy, do we go out with a bang! We don't want to give too much away though, so we're just gonna use these three words to describe this episode: Munchausen by Proxy. Beyond that, we have a couple VERY IMPORTANT announcements / notes for you— First— Youtube won't let us show you this interview as is. It's too... well, it's too a lot of things! So the only way to actually get it on here was to heavily edit it. Obviously, this censored version isn't nearly as powerful as the uncut version. So to watch the FULL and UNCENSORED version of the episode, go to patreon.com/mattdelia — and sign up FOR FREE. You'll not only be able to watch the interview exactly as it was conducted, without any cuts, but there are some pleasant surprises (unrelated to this episode) for you over there as well. So go do that now! Second— as stated above, THIS IS THE FINAL EPISODE OF SEASON ONE OF 'THE PRIVATE RECORD'. But do not despair! Because while THIS show is on hiatus, Matt and his team are ramping up and getting ready to launch the NEW and (some say) IMPROVED version of Matt's original podcast, 'Matt D'Elia is Confused'. To make sure you have access to every episode of THAT show (AND this show), make sure you're signed up FOR FREE at patreon.com/mattdelia. (Did we mention it's FREE?!?! What are you waiting for! WE JUST SAID TO GO DO THAT NOW! SO GET OVER THERE AND SIGN UP ALREADY! You will NOT be disappointed! Who doesn't like free sh*t?!) When Your Dad is a Victim of Domestic Abuse
    Oct 9 2024
The Private Record — Episode 38 — When Your Dad is a Victim of Domestic Abuse When this submission came our way, we honestly had NO idea what to expect. But when we followed up with the woman who submitted the story (who has chosen to remain anonymous), we knew we had to have her on. Not just because it's an important story to get out into the world. But also, frankly, because it's... well... STRANGE. The idea that this man, our guest's father, could be a sweet and loving and devoted father for our guest's ENTIRE life... and then just... completely change in almost every way... WITHOUT EXPLANATION... it's just totally crazy and wild AND... we think you will agree! NOTE: This is the SECOND TO LAST episode of SEASON ONE of The Private Record. If you think Matt is going anywhere, though, you are sorely mistaken... during TPR's downtime, he's got big things coming! • When You Witness a Man Burn Alive

When You Witness a Man Burn Alive
    Oct 2 2024
The Private Record — Episode 37 — When You Witness a Man Burn Alive This one is short and sweet... actually... hmm... not exactly 'sweet', per se. More like the opposite of 'sweet', in fact! Because, as the title suggests, this episode features a story about a boy named Philip (now an adult— but at the time he was only 12 years old) who randomly and entirely unexpectedly happened to witness a grown man BURN HIMSELF TO DEATH... ON PURPOSE. We're going to leave it at that, but for full context (and to satisfy anyone who finds themselves morbidly curious) here are some links to news stories detailing the tragic and horrifying scene Philip unwittingly stumbled upon... Brief summary of events, from The Keene Sentinel (local news source): https://www.sentinelsource.com/news/local/man-who-set-himself-on-fire-had-a-history-with-courts/article_a2d27492-9840-11e0-9fe9-001cc4c03286.html The man's (rather lengthy) suicide note (or, in his words, his 'last statement'), also from The Keene Sentinel: https://www.sentinelsource.com/news/local/last-statement-sent-to-sentinel-from-self-immolation-victim/article_cd181c8e-983b-11e0-a559-001cc4c03286.html WARNING FROM MATT: the man's 'last statement' is not only very long but it is also incrediblyyyyyy upsetting. NOT saying 'don't click'— AM saying 'consider your mental state before you do so' ! You're welcome. Welcome to 'The Private Record', where ordinary people tell their most extraordinary stories. When Your Boyfriend Snaps and Tries to Kill You
    Sep 25 2024
The Private Record — Episode 036 — When Your Boyfriend Snaps and Tries to Kill You This episode's guest, Kayla, has a wild and harrowing tale for us. In short, she was almost killed by her then-boyfriend. And she absolutely WOULD have been killed, if not for a number of totally unlikely and random coincidences that are, quite frankly, enough to make even the most hardened atheist reconsider whether or not there is a god. As nightmarish as Kayla's story is, experiences like hers are all too common. If you or anyone you love are in a situation like Kayla's, please call The National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233. Sep 18 2024
The Private Record — Episode 35 — When Your Roommate Fakes Having Cancer Many people have ‘crazy roommate’ stories. But Hayley’s truly boggles the mind. The short version of the story is— Hayley’s college dorm-mate ‘Becky’ made everyone at school (from Hayley to her classmates to her teachers) think she had cancer, when she in fact did not have cancer. But the LONG version of the story, which Hayley tells to Matt in full detail, is absolutely and utterly batsh*t insane. • When a Child Beats You Up

When a Child Beats You Up
    Sep 11 2024
The Private Record — Episode 34 — When a Child Beats You Up Title kinda says it all this time, no? Bu here are some specifics for you: our guest Danielle is a teacher. A couple years ago, one particular student in her classroom was a bit of a... well... PROBLEM. And one day, that student took it upon herself to beat up another student. Danielle, being a good teacher (and a good person in general) wasn't having that. So instead of letting the student take a beating, Danielle put herself between the two students, physical punishment be damned! This one is just plain old crazy. And an all-time favorite of Matt's. Here's hoping you enjoy it as much as he does! Welcome to 'The Private Record', where ordinary people tell their most extraordinary stories. New episodes every Wednesday! • When Your Friend Steals Your Wife's Nudes

When Your Friend Steals Your Wife's Nudes
    Sep 4 2024
The Private Record — Episode 033 — When Your Friend Steals Your Wife's Nudes After last week's VERY heavy episode, we decided to do a 180 this week and bring you a story that is very... well... NOT heavy. Adrian and his wife's best friend's husband had become pretty good friends, thanks to the closeness of their spouses. But when his purported 'friend' offers to 'fix' his wife's phone and takes a liiiiiittle too long doing so, Adrian gets slightly suspicious. And it doesn't take him very long to find out his suspicion is warranted— EXTREMELY warranted, in fact. Because it turns out his wife's best friend's husband wasn't JUST fixing his wife's phone... he was also stealing VERY explicit, VERY graphic, and VERY private nude photos and videos from said phone. One would THINK the story ends there. Buuuuuuut it's actually just getting started. You will not believe where it ends up! When You Give Birth And The Unthinkable Happens
    Aug 28 2024
The Private Record — Episode 032 — When You Give Birth And The Unthinkable Happens Hey guys. Listen up. There’s no way around this, so we might as well come out and say it upfront— this one is brutal, and at times just plain hard to listen to. That being said— we not only believe our guest Dylan’s tragic tale is an IMPORTANT story to share, it also ultimately has a happy ending! And if you watch through Matt’s intro to the episode, you’ll come to know what that happy ending is, before you even get to Dylan’s heart-wrenching, gut-punch of a story. Also, instead of writing out a little synopsis of the story you’re about to hear in this episode (like we usually do every week) we’d rather let Dylan tell her story, fully and exclusively in her own words. If you are moved by her story, please let her know in the comments! After everything she’s been through, AND for working up the courage to come share her story with Matt (as well as the whole world), we think she deserves some love and appreciation!
