  • Philippians (Lesson 48)
    Oct 26 2026

Your peace is not only shaped by your circumstances. It is shaped by what you let your mind rehearse when nobody is watching. We open Philippians 4:8 and treat it like what it really is: a practical, God given filter for your thought life that leads to joy, stability, and the peace of God.

I walk through each phrase in Paul’s list, starting with what is true and why Scripture is the safest place to rest the mind in an age of noise, spin, and endless “reports.” From there we make an important distinction that many people miss: something can avoid a direct lie and still fail the test of honesty. If your words or your media diet are designed to mislead, distract, or manipulate, your mind will not stay settled for long.

We also talk about what is just and pure, and how Christian living always turns on what we approve of in our minds before it shows up in our choices. Then we finish with what is lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy, including a simple gut check: if you would not want it openly reported to your parents or your church family, it does not belong in your head. Even the idea of “amusement” gets tested against the Bible’s repeated command to think on purpose.

  • Philippians (Lesson 47)
    Oct 23 2026

If you’ve ever clutched a problem so tightly that you couldn’t breathe, Philippians 4 has a challenge and a comfort for you. We slow down and read the verse the way it’s written, because a common “wall plaque” version leaves out a tiny word that changes everything: the promise of peace is connected to a real pattern of trust, prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving.

We talk about what “the Lord is at hand” actually means, not the return of Christ, but His constant presence with the believer through the Holy Spirit. From there we trace the logic of Philippians 4:6-7: when we bring everything to God and stop letting care fill the cup, God gives something better than a temporary calm. He offers the peace of God, not just peace from God, but the very peace God Himself possesses as He looks at our circumstances without anxiety, panic, or uncertainty.

Along the way we confront the habit of leaning on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5), tell a vivid story about fear that feels real, and connect it to how the enemy uses shadows to steal rest. We also anchor the promise with Isaiah 26:3 and Job 34:29, showing how a mind stayed on the Lord leads to “perfect peace” that guards both heart and mind, even when life uses words like cancer, conflict, operation, or funeral.

If you’re looking for Bible teaching on Christian anxiety, worry, and how to trust God when you can’t see the outcome, press play and let Scripture reset your focus. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs peace, and leave a review with the verse you’re holding onto right now.

  • Philippians (Lesson 46)
    Oct 22 2026

Anxiety doesn’t usually crush us all at once. It stacks up, one “small” problem at a time, until the weight finally steals our peace. We open Philippians 4:6-7 and face the question most of us avoid: if God promises “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,” why do we so often live full of care?

We talk about the difference between religion and real assurance through saving faith in Jesus Christ, then reflect on a striking example from the public record: Mother Teresa’s private writings describing decades of inner torment and doubt. It’s a sober reminder that a respected reputation or a lifetime of good works can’t substitute for personal confidence in God’s Word.

From there, we slow down and get practical about Christian living and biblical counseling for worry: “The Lord is at hand” means He is near enough to help right now. We unpack why the command is not “have no cares,” but “don’t be full of care,” and we use vivid pictures to show how peace is preserved, including the disciples who waited too long to wake Jesus in the storm and the crushing danger of trying to catch ten tons of bricks at once. The path forward is simple but demanding: take every burden to God in prayer and supplication as it arises, keep thanksgiving in your mouth, and make your requests known to God instead of treating prayer like a last resort.

If you want deeper Bible study on Philippians, prayer, and the peace of God, listen through and share it with a friend. Subscribe, leave a review, and tell us what “one brick” you need to bring to God today.
