Welcome to the Preached Word. In this sermon on Proverbs 1:7–9, Dr. Walker asks what makes Christian education truly Christian, and he finds the answer in Solomon’s governing principle: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge (Prov. 1:7). From mathematics and the physical sciences to history and the kitchen table, he shows why no subject stands outside God’s claim, why parents bear the charge to teach, and why every lesson finds its aim in Christ, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col. 2:3).

Welcome to the Preached Word. Jesus moves from promise to command in John 14:15-17, telling his disciples that love for him proves itself in obedience — and then, knowing that obedience lies beyond their strength, he promises the gift that makes it possible. Today we consider what it means to love Christ by keeping his Word, why we need a Comforter, and what it means for the Spirit of truth to dwell within us.

Welcome to the Preached Word. In John 14:12–14 Jesus ties two promises together: the church's works, greater in reach than his own miracles because the Spirit poured out at Pentecost carries the gospel to every nation, and prayer offered in his name, answered by the very authority he shares with the Father. Today we ask what it means to work and pray with that kind of confidence.
