The Performers' Playground are making their most ambitious show to date... Ubu Royale by Neil Bartlett, after Alfred Jarry.
Alice and Mark trained as actors and have continued to deepen their knowledge in bouffon, movement and dance over the last two decades. Mark has toured bouffon shows internationally, and Alice produces festivals such as: Mothers Who Make and Clownfest MCR. They both teach on The Performers' Playground course, and have had successful artistic and teaching careers.
But five years ago, Mark was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS)... so how does someone who is a physical performer continue to explore and develop their work whilst navigating a disruptive central nervous system, affecting cognition, and developing a funny walk, and how does Alice help, support and sustain a balanced family life, career whilst making this show!
In each episode, we talk to the cast and crew to discover what it's like making a bouffon show (a theatre fringe genre only tackled by the bravest); what it’s like to navigate through political unrest whilst tackling a highly political play; AND why Mark (even with MS) is still the most annoying cast member…
