A New York Fed study found that tariff price hikes take up to a year to work through the economy, with nearly ninety percent of the cost hitting import prices almost immediately before creeping into grocery aisles, car lots and even American-made goods. The researchers estimate tariffs added 2.9 percentage points to consumer goods inflation by February, a figure that eased to about two percent after the Supreme Court struck down the emergency tariffs and a ten percent import tax replaced them, though Canadian levies and higher auto tariffs next year threaten to push prices back up. The broadcast also previewed a bond market selloff that sent the ten-year Treasury yield to 5.35 percent, the Fed's first rate hike since 2023, House members claiming hotel and meal costs without receipts, and Florida's lawsuit accusing router maker TP-Link of misleading customers about security. Throughout, the case is that decisions made in positions of power land on ordinary families as the bill.
