  • Season 9 Episode 17 | Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings | 1 Samuel 29-31
    Aug 8 2026

Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings is a series delving into the history of the people of God found in 1 and 2 Samuel.

We continue our deep dive into the history of the people of God in 1 and 2 Samuel. We began with a longed for baby, continued with a cry for a king which was fulfilled in the anointing of Saul. He began well but things went downhill with a series of catastrophic failures that led to God rejecting him as king. We then met a young shepherd boy called David, a keen harpist, giant slayer, good friend, cave dweller and leader of a band of misfits and complex character in this series which we’re calling this Prophets, Shepherds, Poets and Kings. Last time we spoke about the tragic demise of Saul and his encounter with the medium at Endor, and in this episode we conclude the series with the final chapters of the book in 1 Samuel 29-31.

There are segments to enjoy including the reading of the passage, 'The Cloud' and 'What Now?'.

This episode was engineered and edited by Aimee Higgins.
